Spending time with mother nature

I once had to prepare for pre-med exams with essay writing. A practice piece of literature required me to think about nature as our best teacher. The thoughts I had have lingered for years. Mother nature IS our best teacher – about our world, ourselves, and all of us living beings within.

Our health is entirely linked with nature. When we’re in a forest, immersed in rivers, lakes, or oceans, or surrounded by greenspace, we get lower blood pressure, reduced stress, better immune function, and improved brain function (cognition). Mental health and sleep is also better. Pretty amazing when you think about it! The health benefits can be time spent sitting, just being present in nature AND they can also be when exercising in nature. Take your pick or do both – entirely your choice.

The Secret Cell benefits from the core feature of time spent in nature – lowering stress. While stress is part of our lives as humans, it is important to have a “brake” on the system. And mother nature provides us with this brake. She lets us have a moment connecting with our ancient systems. She teaches us to look, listen, and feel our surroundings. The Secret Cell and our 60,000 miles of blood vessels benefit from time in mother nature!

What if mother nature could help bring health to your Secret Cell?

Simple options you can try:

· Walk in a park during the day instead of that coffee break

· Find the closest forest or lake near you and spend 20 minutes just being silent

· If you’re in a city and stuck for places, go to your nearby florist or plant nursery and just spend 15 minutes looking at the plants and breathing in their scents
