September Stacks

Evolving through cumulative wins

This is about stacking wins. We are more than our genes. Cumulative behavioural change can have positive ripple effects that compound wins for lasting health improvement. These little wins can be incredibly powerful when stacked together.

The Secret Cells lining our 60,000 miles of blood vessels like to work together. These cells benefit from your health wins and can “pay it forward” for a lifetime. Hear me out.

First, know that you get to define the terms here. A win can be as simple as selecting a salad instead of fries. It can be choosing to walk somewhere instead of drive. A win can be just showing up – for that spin or run, weight training, or yoga session. Once these wins are acknowledged, you will feel the reward of success! Then you can layer on more wins each day. It’s not set in stone. Flexibility is built into this winning game of yours.

Second, try setting “micro” wins. You might find that the next step is made just a little bit easier. Our world is constantly being distilled into smaller and smaller components (think quantum physics perhaps). Why not distill down your wins into the smallest component you can think of and then proceed? When you embed wins throughout your day, you generate a very useful stack! The ripple effects here are beyond what you might think:

· Completion reward (we like to finish things)

· Insight reward (we begin to notice our wins)

· Creative reward (designing new wins for ourselves)

· Mindset reward (we have a more adaptive and flexible approach to wins)

· Goal-driven reward (we all like to achieve a goal)

Can you see how this might evolve into a positive cycle of micro wins leading to macro wins? Making healthy choices through food and activity each day, quickly become a week, then a month, then years. It’s not a straight line of course – but the wins add up over time. The Secret Cells working together will use these healthy food wins and daily activity wins to help you for the years to come – controlling blood sugar, limiting inflammation, and keeping your blood vessels young.

Can you create your own stack this month? Be creative!
